A hard, long journey until Bethesda stepped in

Lorenzo Seconds (32) was one of 3 people involved in a terrible accident in October 2016.  Lorenzo sustained serious injuries to both his legs and one arm.  He was transferred from George Hospital to Bethesda’s Intermediate Care Facility 11 October 2016 for continued treatment and rehabilitation.

Stepping Stone Hospice gives back for Mandela Day

Members of the clinical team at Stepping Stone Hospice spent the morning of Mandela Day, 18 July, handing out knitted toys and winter warmers to the children and mothers in the paediatric and maternity units at Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston and at South Rand Hospital.

1 to 8 May is Hospice Week | What Stepping Stone Hospice got up to during the week

Back in 2013, an Alberton mom honoured her dying daughter’s last wish – to open a hospice facility in Alberton that would take care of people and their families who were facing life-limiting illnesses. At the time, neither Tersia Burger nor the rest of her six-woman steering committee, ever thought that in the four years that would follow, Stepping Stone Hospice would grow to the extent where they, this year, signed off on an annual budget of R16-million!
