AS part of Stepping Stone Hospice’s campaign “Taking Hospice to the People”, CEO Tersia Burger addressed the Probus Club Meeting group on May 9 at Reading Country Club.

She explained the concept of palliative hospice care and tried to dispel some of the myths around it, the biggest one being that it is only applicable to the last weeks of life.

Palliative care is the care of patients with an active, progressive and far advanced disease. The focus of the care is the relief and prevention of suffering and ensuring quality of life.
